Torsion Square Bar |
Feature Perfecta only uses a 40mm, steel square support bar on all its units. This bar is galvanized and powder coated.
Benefit The purpose of this torsion/square bar is to absorb the “stress” caused by the movement and flex of the arms. This is the piece that actually attaches the awning to your structure and is better known as the “backbone” of the awning. The powder coating helps protect this piece for longevity. |
Roller Tube |
Feature
The roller tube is used to hold and store the fabric of the awning. As the awning is extended (rolled out), in cooperation with the spring loaded arms, proper tension is provided to keep the awning taught.
Benefit Perfecta’s roller tube is made of steel and is galvanized to prevent rust both inside and out. |
SUNRISE, TOGA, LITTLE BIG MODELS: |
Arm Bracket |
Feature The patented tilting shoulder/arm bracket is the core piece of these models. It connects the profile of the arms to the torsion/square bar. These models of Perfecta awnings are fitted with an automatic wind-lock device that prevents the front bar from springing upwards.
Benefit The Perfecta shoulder bracket is also where pitch is adjusted using a simple insert and turn system, which is totally self locking. The shoulder bracket also allows the entire arm to fold up completely to what is considered the most compact closure profile in the industry. Gusts of wind put an enormous pressure on the arm brackets of every awning. Simultaneously, as the awning extends, it activates the u-shaped wind-lock device. This allows the awning to be lifted into the wind, but applies a stop so the awning cannot rise too far to cause damage. |
Front Bar Connectors |
Feature The front bar connector joins the arm profiles to the front bar. Perfecta uses a front bar connector system very similar to the ball and socket of the human shoulder. This allows for maximum strength through a total range of motion.
Benefit The awning needs to flex and move when wind is involved and that is the front bar connector’s purpose. The force of the wind is absorbed in the front bar connector and is not transferred through the system into the connecting brackets causing structural damage. |
Retractable Lateral Arms |
Feature The lateral arms are crucial for every awning’s safety! Therefore, only Perfecta lateral arms are fitted with durable, synthetically coated steel cables. Perfecta arms are composed of outer profile, inner springs, and cables. All folding arm bearings are fitted with self-lubricating, high-resistance plain bearings and rustproof stainless steel bolts. The new generation of Secureflex arms, when extended, has a closed center joint and modern, round profile design.
Benefit Perfecta Awnings arms keep fabric sag to an absolute minimum due to this increased outward pressure. Up to three individually suspended springs, together with synthetically weather resistant coated cables (patented), make for durability and the highest level of safety. This also increases the outward arm pressure. |
Front Bar |
Feature The front bar connects the fabric to the roller tube and is color coordinated with the rest of the unit. It is a powder coated, chambered, convex, aluminum tube. When the awning is fully retracted, its convex side fits directly against the fabric that is rolled up on the roller tube.
Benefit The Front Bar ensures a complete closure along with a very compact closed profile, which keeps the front portion of the fabric protected underneath the hood. |
Hood |
Feature Perfecta uses a one piece, 7” wide, powder coated aluminum hood. It is the same color as the rest of the unit’s metallic features. It has a slide in rubber shield on the back and an integrated drain rail and drain spout to help shed water.
Benefit A stylish hood (optional) protects your awning fabric from soiling when it’s retracted. If the awning can be installed under an outcropping that is at least 12” wide, a hood is not necessary.
Perfecta’s complete closure feature along with the use of a hood helps prevent water from getting behind your awning and allows excess water to drain away properly. A Perfecta awning can keep your awning fabric cleaner than any other unit found in today’s market. |

SUNPITCH & SUNSELECT MODELS: |
Retractable Lateral Arms |
Feature The lateral arms are crucial for every awning’s safety! Therefore, Perfecta lateral arms are fitted with durable, synthetically coated steel cables.
Benefit Perfecta Awning’s arms keep the fabric sag to an absolute minimum due to this increased outward pressure. Up to two individually suspended springs, together with synthetically weather resistant coated cables make for durability while also providing the highest level of safety. |
Front Bar |
Feature The front bar connects the fabric to the roller tube and is color coordinated with the rest of the unit. It is a powder coated, chambered, aluminum tube.
Benefit The front bar keeps the sag and bow to a minimum on the wider width units. |
Arm Runners |
Feature The arm runners help to pull the arms completely closed.
Benefit The arm runners assist the arms closing completely to ensure a nice, tight fit which keeps the unit compact against the house. |
SUNPITCH MODEL: |
Shoulder/Arm Bracket |
Feature The adjustable pitch shoulder/arm bracket is the core piece of this model. It connects the profile of the arms to the torsion/square bar and allows the customer to change the pitch of the awning.
Benefit The Perfecta shoulder bracket gives the customer every possible option to set the level of their own awning in any sun condition. |
SUNSELECT MODEL: |
Shoulder/Arm Bracket |
Feature The shoulder/arm bracket connects the profile of the arms to the torsion/square bar.
Benefit The Perfecta shoulder bracket is where pitch is adjusted using a simple turn of a bolt. |

MOUNTING BRACKETS: |
Wall Mount Bracket |
Feature Wall brackets are what attach to vertical structures and actually hold and support the awning. Normally they are attached to structures using 3/8” x 4” lag screws into the center of the vertical framework of the structure. Please note as there is no standard for exterior siding looks and characteristics, there is also no standard mounting system.
Benefit Perfecta’s well-devised construction system enables you to install your awning almost anywhere. The solid mounting brackets permit quick and easy installation, and the elegant shape of the awning perfectly matches every architectural style. |
Universal Bracket (Soffit Mount) |
Feature Universal Brackets are used when Wall Brackets are not going to be attached to a vertical wall. Lag screws can be driven vertically through the top of the bracket to attach the awning to a horizontal overhang.
Benefit
Philadelphia Retractable Awning’s trained installation technicians install each awning to best fit and suit its location. Universal Brackets are powder coated to match the rest of the unit in color and are made from cast aluminum for maximum strength. |
Roof Mount Bracket |
Feature Roof Mount Brackets are used to attach awnings to roofs when minimum height requirements cannot be met. They are made of 100% stainless steel to prevent rust and have a mechanism to allow adjustment for the pitch of the roof.
Benefit Using the roof mount will allow the awning to sit up high enough in these brackets to allow rain to flow underneath the awning into the existing gutter system. |
Fabric |
Feature Compared to an American acrylic fabric, Recacril has a tighter weave and needs less fluorocarbon. The fabric weighs 9 oz per square yard and is made of 100% solution dyed acrylic.
Benefit This fabric tends to provide outstanding water resistance and fabric stability. |
Thread |
Feature Perfecta only sews with Tenara (Gortex) thread. It is clear in color and has a coating to keep it supple and water repellant.
Benefit This thread is impervious to the UV rays of the sun and has a warranty to last the life of the awning fabric. |
